Marcus Rashford says Manchester United must learn from Klopp’s Liverpool

Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford has criticized the Red Devils for their lack of plan, insisting the club’s transition is yet to even begin.

The 27-year-old English striker stressed that Manchester United’s transition has landed in no man’s land due to improper planning and changes of coaches and strategies.

The player made emphasis of United not being able to maintain a coach and stick with his ideas as they aligned with the club goals and ambition in order to achieve great success together.

The Red Devils have been way off behind their standards after Sir Alex Ferguson. There have been a lot of recruitments that didn’t work the way they should have.

Different coaches with different ideas and strategies, as well as unnecessary reshuffling of staff, are all part of the club’s downfall, according to the player.

Marcus Rashford likened the situation at Manchester United to Liverpool when Jurgen Klopp took over in 2015.

That Liverpool side was in the same situation, but with a clear and strategic plan, they stuck with the manager and backed him till they achieved success.

According to Rashford, the early years of Klopp at Liverpool, when they were struggling, have been forgotten, as all Liverpool fans are enjoying what he’s built at the club.

He believes that Manchester United can also do the same by sticking with one manager and backing him fully to achieve success.

How many managers has Manchester United sacked post Sir Alex Ferguson?

Manchester United has sacked five permanent managers post Sir Alex Ferguson.

Reputable names like David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Erik ten Hag are managers who couldn’t find their feet at the club.

Out of these managers, only Erik ten Hag, Luis van Gaal, David Moyes, and Jose Mourinho managed to win silverware with the club.

The first manager who was appointed after Sir Alex Ferguson was David Moyes in July 2013. After 51 games in charge and one Community Shield trophy, he was sacked, after which Luis Van Gaal was appointed.

The Netherlands coach managed 103 on the touchline for the Reds. He won the FA Cup and was sacked in May 2016.

In that same year, United appointed Jose Mourinho on a 3-year contract. The special one is being described as the most successful coach after Sir Alex Ferguson. He won 3 trophies (the Europa League, FA cup and  Community Shield) and got knocked out of the clubs for poor results.

The club appointed former player Ole Gunner Solksjear after his impressive performance as an interim. And he managed 168 matches for the Reds. He was able to reach the Europa League final against Villarreal but lost on penalties.

The Norwegian was sacked in November 2021, and Ralf Rangnick was hired as an interim before Erik ten Hag was appointed as the manager of the club in May 2022.

The Dutch coach managed 148 games as the Red Devils boss and won two trophies out of three finals at Wembley.

The Dutch manager was sacked in October 2024 and has been replaced by the current manager, Ruben Amorim, whom the club has indicated they are sticking with to build something new in Manchester.

These coaches came to do their part in making Manchester United great again, but Marcus Rashford placed emphasis on sticking to a certain idea and making it work out.
