Know your format before you write

We publish two categories of content. Each has different word count requirements. Submissions outside these ranges will be returned for revision.

Evergreen Content
Analysis & Features

In-depth tactical breakdowns, player profiles, historical pieces, season reviews, and long-form analysis that remain relevant beyond the news cycle. This is our highest-priority content and receives the most editorial support.

Pro tip: Evergreen topics have a significantly higher chance of being published and staying live on our site long-term. If you are unsure what to write, pitch an evergreen angle — or ask our newsroom to suggest one for you.

The submission process

Four simple steps from idea to publication. Read each carefully before reaching out.

1
Read our editorial standards

Before writing a single word, read our full editorial standards and policies. We expect all contributors to understand our accuracy requirements, sourcing rules, and how we handle opinion versus fact. This is non-negotiable.

2
Pitch your topic to the newsroom

Send your proposed topic to our newsroom email before writing the full piece. You can also request a topic from our editorial team if you would like guidance. Visit our contact page and use the newsroom email address listed in the department table.

3
Write and submit your piece

Once your topic is approved, write your article to the required word count — 1,000–1,500 words for evergreen content, 700–1,000 for news. Send your completed draft to the newsroom email. Include your name, a short bio, and the website or profile you would like linked as your backlink.

4
Editorial review and publication

Our editorial team will review your submission within 5–7 business days. We may make edits for clarity, accuracy, or house style before publishing. If your piece does not meet our standards, we will let you know — and we reserve the right to decline without detailed explanation.

What you get in return

We do not pay for guest contributions. In exchange for accepted pieces, we provide a quality backlink to your website, blog, or professional profile — published on one of Africa’s fastest-growing football platforms. The value of your contribution is in the audience you reach and the link you earn.
