Thomas Partey is set to leave Arsenal this summer, as reported by Football London and Football 365 this morning.
The veteran midfielder’s future at Arsenal remains uncertain after failing to reach a contract extension due to his high demands even at the age of 32.
The Ghanaian international was a key factor in Arsenal’s fantastic team in the just-ended 2024/2025 season. He contributed by scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists and was available throughout the season.
Thomas has been dealing with a lot of injuries since he joined Arsenal in 2020, of which Mikel Arteta was open to letting him go because of his availability. In the just-ended season, Partey turned things around by putting injuries at his back to stay fit for Arsenal.
He featured in 52 games and was instrumental in Mikel Arteta’s team that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, beating Real Madrid home and away by 5 goals to 1.
According to multiple reports, despite Partey’s entourage not being able to reach an agreement over contract extension, there is another round of talks going on, as the player would like to play at least one more season for the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta has been a fan of Thomas Partey ever since he arrived in London from Atletico Madrid.
In May, Arteta was asked if he’s happy with Thomas and his availability, and he said, “Yes,” he said. “I think consistency-wise it’s been his best season. The way he’s played, performed, and his availability have been exceptional, and he’s a really important player for us.”
Currently, there is still hope that Partey might stay for at least one more year at Arsenal, but TNnews Sports understands that there hasn’t been any agreement yet.
Partey is linked with a move to Fenerbahce and AC Milan.
AC Milan and Fenerbahce have shown concrete interest in the Arsenal midfielder after reports that he will be leaving this summer on a free transfer.
Partey has been on Fenerbahce’s radar for a very long time, as Jose Mourinho is looking forward to building his dream team to challenge Galatasaray for the Turkish Cup.
Thomas Partey’s entourage has reportedly begun a new round of talks with both AC Milan and Fenerbahce, as Maximiliano Allegri (coach for AC Milan) and Jose Mourinho (coach for Fenerbahce) are keen on the transfer.
As it stands, Fenerbahce is leading the race, as they are the only team capable of matching Partey’s wage demands.
Partey’s Departure Opens Door for New Signings.
Even though Thomas Partey is still at Arsenal as his contract expires on 30th June, Arsenal has started planning life without Partey.
The Gunners are expected to complete the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and Kepa from Chelsea latest by the end of July. The deal for both players is technically done, leaving the announcements, which are due to players taking days off as holidays after taking off national duties.
Arsenal will also be looking at other priority areas like their attack as they look forward to launching a new bid for Benjamin Sesko.
They have been wishing this for long. They think they have gotten Zubimendi as his replacement. Let’s see if he can replace him
